Recently, 20 of our TNC staff and interns gathered at the picturesque Ordway Preserve in Glenwood, Minnesota. It was day dedicated to learning, teamwork, and hands-on conservation work. By the end of the day, the team had not only collected a significant amount of seeds but also enriched their collective knowledge and skills. The experience underscored the importance of teamwork and the value of learning together. At TNC, we believe that when we learn together, we grow together, and this day at the Ordway Preserve was a perfect example of that philosophy in action. The grassland monitoring team is on the road this summer surveying the prairie. This initiative embodies the work we believe in – making a tangible difference in our environment. 🌿 “We started at the Samuel Ordway Preserve and will be visiting multiple preserves throughout the next few months in the Tri-State area (Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota). On our first day, we were assisted by lot of amazing local plant knowledge from North Dakota State University Research Fellow members and Ordway Staff members!” Our Tri-State team is ready to make a difference, and we couldn’t be prouder of their dedication and hard work. Follow our South Dakota page to explore more updates on what the team is up to. 🌱 #TriStateTeam #EnvironmentalStewardship #WorkYouCanBelieveIn
"One of the things I love most about Nature Fridays, is that they give you the opportunity to do the things you've always been meaning to do, but never get around to. For instance: I've been wanting to take my cat canoeing for forever. Nature Fridays are a program at TNC where you can condense your work week and take off every other Friday, hopefully being able to spend time in Nature. For me, these Fridays have taken a lot different forms: hiking, backpacking, gardening, kayaking, and countless walks along the river. The way Nature Fridays have enriched my life the most though, is by giving me the opportunity to spend more time with the most important people (and cats) in my life🙂 #NatureFriday #MomentsWithManny"
This past International Allyship Day, we came together to honor and celebrate the power of allyship in creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. At The Nature Conservancy, we believe that allyship is not just a one-day event but a continuous commitment to standing up for each other and fostering a culture of belonging. 🌍 We are proud to support and promote our nine Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), each dedicated to empowering and uplifting diverse voices within our organization: 1. Alliance for Diverse Asian and Pacific Islander Talent (ADAPT) with Nature 2. EverGreen 3. League of Employees of African Descent 4. Multicultural (MERG) 5. Nature's Pride 6. StigmaFree 7. Veterans in Nature's Service (VINS) 8. Women In Nature (WIN) 9. Young and Emerging Professionals (YEP) Together, these ERGs play a crucial role in driving our mission forward by ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. Let’s continue to champion allyship and make a positive impact on our workplace and beyond. This past July 11th, TNC was delighted to conduct our annual Diversity Day event virtually for all staff members. Diversity Day is a special occasion that allows our employees to connect, collaborate, and build networks with peers and associates. The day was filled with a rich assortment of sessions that covered topics such as the significance of allyship, integrating conservation into community spaces, an entertaining video series on urban nature education, the impactful work of young professionals in the field of fisheries, and the pursuit of gender equity, among other captivating subjects!
