The biggest stage in the world has arrived for female global football players ⚽ Under Armour is hyping up the upcoming international rivalries via a hero film and musical track pairing global football sensations Kelley O’Hara and Alex Greenwood with two female music artists–Gavlyn from the United States and Nadia Rose from England. Paying homage to the massive impact music has on sports, culture, and the athlete mentality, the song, Armour Up, narrates the athletes’ stories and motivations, uniting each team and punctuating what it means to come together with the common goal to #ProtectThisHouse. The Armour Day celebrations continue! Over the past month, our APAC region has been celebrating the wins in each of our local markets. Along with various fun activities and games, our teammates have given back to the community by providing access to sport to local youth, planting trees to help revitalize the city, and packing toiletries and supplies to donate to local organizations. Our teammates have enjoyed coming together to live out #UnderArmour's core values while also having fun! #LifeAtUA
Throughout the month of June, our teammates in APAC participated in a wide range of activities to show support and learn more about what #PrideMonth represents. Teammates had the opportunity to hear from Soo-Jung Lee, South Korean forensic psychologist who was named to BBC’s list of 100 Inspiring and Influential Women, about gender discrimination and equality. They also hiked Elephant Mountain using gear from our latest #Pride collection, learned more about how to be an engaged and active #ally in the workplace and in their daily lives, and closed out the month with some office fun and celebrations.
To kick off #PrideMonth, Under Armour hosted an event at our Baltimore Brand House alongside our LGBTQIA+ Teammate Resource Group, UNIFIED, with some fun activities, good music, snacks, and of course, the opportunity to shop our newest collection! In May, we launched our ‘United We Win’ product collection, designed in collaboration with UNIFIED, to celebrate all athletes. The gear in the collection is built to help you run faster and train harder, but also give back to the community. The proceeds help fund grants and programs that support the LGBTQIA+ community, so that every athlete has the opportunity to compete. The principle of equality is simple: to ensure that everyone has access to the same opportunities. At Under Armour, ‘Stand for Equality’ has always been a core value, meaning we stand with underrepresented groups, such as the LGBTQIA+ community, year-round and remain committed to creating better representation in sport, around the world, and in our own community.
Under Armour stands firmly for equality. It is at the center of our pursuit and remains a central value in all we do. Today, we are proud to be named to Seramount’s 2023 Best Companies for Multicultural Women list for our commitment to the recruitment, retention, and advancement of multicultural women.
Our UnderArmour EMEA team recently celebrated their Armour Day with over 400 participants, including UA athletes, UA ambassadors, guests from our many partners in the region and of course all EMEA teammates. It was an exciting day to remember at our regional headquarters in Amsterdam! Teammates had the opportunity to train together, give back to the community and celebrate our wins together. Hosted by UK sports presenter Nicole Holliday, the day included a volunteer initiative with five Amsterdam football clubs, a Train for American Football activity at Sportpark Sloten - where all participants displayed grit and toughness to combat typical Amsterdam weather, inspired by the words of surprise guest Anthony Joshua - and an evening party at a venue with a great atmosphere and good food: Harbour Club Amsterdam.
UnderArmour celebrated our annual Armour Day at our new global headquarters ‘The House’ in Baltimore, Maryland. For almost 20 years, we’ve set aside a day to give back to the communities we call home around the globe, showcase our love for all athletes, and honor our teammates hard work by celebrating the wins! Special thank you to our community partners United Way, Living Classrooms Foundation, and Positive Coaching Alliance. Together, we're ensuring we continue to #ProtectThisHouse for generations to come!
We kicked off AAPI month by screening the HBO documentary, 38 at the Garden, which chronicles the extraordinary ascendance of point guard Jeremy Lin during his landmark 2012 season with the New York Knicks that shattered stereotypes on sport’s biggest stage for Asian Americans. Teammates, both in person and virtually, were able to watch the 38-minute documentary and hear from director Frank Chi and UnderArmour athletes Monica Jones and YiOu Wang about their experiences with race, reconciliation, identity, and overcoming career challenges. The panel discussion was hosted by Teammate Resource Group Leading Empowering Asian Development sponsor and VP, Treasury Mack Makode. #LifeAtUA
Last week, our Digital and Technology teams at Under Armour came together for a three-day hackathon. Teammates were provided the dedicated time to brainstorm and ideate around new digital innovations to improve our omni-channel marketing. Each team was challenged to produce a solution to an existing problem or develop new technology using the latest industry advancements. After the three days, teams presented their ideas to judges Amy Stevenson, SVP of Omnichannel Marketing, Brian Quill, VP, Omni Technology, Prasad Tendulkar, VP of Engineering, and Ian Ramcheran, VP, Global Ecommerce and Digital Products. The top finishers received some exciting prizes for their hard work, ingenuity, and creativity! Special thanks to CEO Stephanie Linnartz and COO Colin Browne for stopping by, and to our teammates for participating in the event!
