Last Friday, our Emergency Department and emergency response personnel held hands in support of Hospitals Against Violence Hope Friday. HAVhope is a national endeavor of the American Hospital Association to bring awareness to all forms of violence. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 2.3 million people are treated in U.S. emergency departments each year, and our security, ED and emergency response teams are at times the ones who can help break the cycle of violence in the families of patients. We are thankful as well to local law enforcement, domestic violence shelters and other social service agencies who are committed to helping victims of violence.
