I always forget the equation on how they come up with the bonus multiplier, but it's a nice & fair bonus if your store makes plan for the month.

The bonus is offered only when everyone on the team does well--fair and square.

I wouldn't say it's exactly a performance bonus..but if the whole store meets a certain percentage of their budget, everyone bonuses.

Best Buy has some of the best job training I've ever been a part of. They sent me to the Holiday Inn in Reston, VA. We had class for 8 hours a day for 5 days, however it consisted of a lot of role playing and fun activities for everyone. I enjoyed myself entirely. Also the free breakfast was a plus!

Employees are not on commission, which helps customers establish a working relationship, but seriously undermines work ethic. Everyone in sales bonuses bases upon the store's average performance instead of their department's. All departments have a standard 5% or 10% bonus except for Mobile, which is 15% and 30%... In other words, if Home Theater does phenomenally before the Super Bowl, but Computers sells almost nothing, the HT can be reduced to minimal or no bonus, despite tremendous effort. On the opposite end, computers may bonus despite being ineffective. If the store is doing well in bonus territory, two different employees with the same base pay from Computers and Mobile will get different pay, simply because of the department. Raising base pay would help mitigate frustration with the system and lack of commission - many people leave for this reason.

If your department did well, you received a bonus. An example of this would be performing 103% to budget would provide the first tier of bonuses. So on and so forth.
