Extensive unpaid training available to employees.

Since the software the company uses is about 90% proprietary, and the technology infrastructure changes every year, job training is absolutely essential. Unfortunately, the manuals from which computer technicians learn to install and, configure the computers, modems, POS terminals, printers, etc. each tax season are usually only about 80% accurate. For example, it was not uncommon to receive up to 3 or 4 updates to these manuals during the few weeks of office set-up. Given the time constraints associated with such a short business cycle (January 1 to April 15), this became very stressful and frustrating.

They provide all needed training!

They do offer on the job training, but it is mostly through e learnings. Not so much classroom.

Wide range of tax topics are covered in web-based, virtual- and instructor-led training. Many college tax courses are not as comprehensive.

Diversified and great training program once you start the job.

You can take courses online during the off season to maintain your required continuing education to keep you tax certification.

H&R Block offers world class training materials for it's Tax Preparers to learn, grow and stay up to date on all aspects related to Income Tax laws and IRS guidelines for Tax Preparers. Training is offered through a variety of mediums to allow for strong flexibility to the different learning styles and personal motivations/initiatives of the tax preparers. Training is offered classroom style, computer based online trainings, self study practice, and through online web trainings with live instructors. There are additional annual trainings required for Tax Office Associates which are often rushed and have varying levels of effectiveness due to the late timing and short window of time they ore required to be completed before offices open each year in January. Overall though. training is a huge part of this industry and materials and offerings are best in class.
