I discussed open software engineer positions with an ActiveCampaign recruiter on LinkedIn, followed by a phone screen.
After that, I was given a take-home assignment with some questions about algorithms, database access, and API ingestion. Nothing was too difficult or out-of-left-field for a capable engineer - I thought it was a fair, well-rounded assessment of skills required for the position.
I soon after received an invitation for an "on-site" (which was actually virtual because of COVID). Before the on-site, the recruiter gave me a quick prep call to go through everything, then he sent me a detailed meeting agenda including a list of everyone I'd be talking to. I really appreciated the effort taken here to help me prepare and walk in with full confidence.
The on-site itself was pleasant, and was mostly comprised of discussions about my work history, as well as an ample amount of time for asking questions about the company. I reviewed the results of my take-home exercise with numerous people, where I expounded on my thought processes and dug deeper into some of the problems. Everyone was really nice and transparent throughout the process.
Roughly a week later, I was given a job offer which I accepted.
Overall great experience, and the recruiter did an excellent job facilitating things from the initial LinkedIn discussion to the job offer.
