Applied online, completed an assessment which I apparently passed as I received a call to schedule a phone screening. The phone screen was as expected, "What do you do? Why us?" so I was clear as could be that I currently do work for the military outside of the country. I even requested that our in-person meeting be on Skype but she insisted that it be a live meeting. I found a flight that would get me there that week and after spending $400 in airfare, gas, etc. I spend an hour and a half explaining myself and listening to a response associate take live calls. My last task was to complete a background check release which I had no problem doing as I have a current DoD Secret Clearance. Back on base the next day I received a notice via phone and then email that I required a 50-day international background check. I asked if there would even still be a position in 50 days. I was told they could not promise one but if I could not promise I would be available in 50 days there was no point in going forward with the background check. Given no choice I am obviously going forward with their list of requirement which includes inked finger prints taken by the local police station. I wonder if their clients (who they tell me this action protects) such as USAA are aware of how difficult if not impossible they are making it for returning veterans and contractors to obtain a position with them?
