I interviewed for the Amsterdam based Commercial AE role for the African market with the following steps:
1) Recruiter screening call - standard questions you would expect
2) 1-1 with hiring manager, many questions around the sales cycle, market experience and motivations. (45m)
3) Interview with hiring manager and another manager. Focus was on pipeline generation tactics, operating rhythm. Important to know your numbers (1hr)
4) Onsite Peer Connect: Around this stage I was invited onsite to the Amsterdam office (which is beautiful) to meet someone from the team for what I believe to be a vibe check to see if you would get along with the team. (30m)
5) Sales challenge: It was a classic discovery call scenario with the same managers of the previous interview, you will get a comprehensive brief. The difficulty is not too high but you will need to prepare. (30m)
6) Director screen: Met the director of commercial sales. Used this as an opportunity to learn more about how to be successful. Ensure you have insightful questions prepared and to show your enthusiasm. (30m)
The process was very smooth, the recruiter called me between every interview for a quick reflection chat. The turnaround time was very quick, one of the most involved and positive recruitment experiences I've had. The manager of the region is very genuine and invested into the success of his team which came through in the interview process.
I would have accepted the offer to work for him without any question if I didn't have more attractive offer which I opted for. I spoke to 3 other AE's at the company who all seem pretty happy in the role.
