I had a conversation with someone in Talent Acquisition and was passed on to interview with someone that was on the direct team. He let me know on the phone that the conversation was great and that he was going to send me over an assignment. The assignment was given with a note to get it back in 7 days. I then spent several days working on this (a LOT of time and effort). On the morning of day 6 during the assignment period I got an automated email from the talent acquisition team that I had been removed from the process. I emailed the guy that had sent me the assignment and asked for my work to be reviewed before I was removed from the process. Who asks someone to do free work if there is no intention to actually consider the work? He didn't respond to me. A day later I reached out to the talent acquisition person with the same request and she also never took the time to respond to me. I understand that things happen during the interview process, but ghosting me is incredibly unprofessional. These guys really wasted my time. The hiring team should re-examine if they are truly adhering to the value of "Cognizance". I did not feel that the team was respectful, that they were aware of how their actions affect others, and that particularly, in an employer's market and a down economy, that they had empathy for having brought me into the hiring funnel and then promptly ghosting me.
