I was not provided with any information leading up to the interview with regards to what to expect, whether there would be other applicants participating during my scheduled interview or what sort of questions would be asked. When I logged into the interview, I was surprised to find out that there was another applicant in the meeting. The REI person conducting the interview began the call mentioning that she's not really much of an outdoor person..Additionally, she clearly did not want to be there as she was not friendly and had the personality of a robot. I have 10+ years of business experience selling and dealing with customers, simply looking for some part-time work as the last time I went into my local Chicago REI store to have my skis waxed, the turnaround time was 3+ weeks. The guys working there told me they were desperately in need of additional help. I've never heard anything back and quite frankly am glad because REI has transformed into a corporate entity similar to Wal-Mart or Exxon Mobil that doesn't care about the people they hire. I will not be associating with REI after this experience.
