Firstly I will say I appreciate the fact that they did send a rejection email instead of ghosting, so before I go into the negatives I will mention that the communication was appreciated.
The first round interview I thought went really well, the recruiter said I had a ton of relevant experience and I seemed like a great fit, and she’d be excited to pass me on. I was 50/50 on the role because it was door to door traveling to restaurants which seems unproductive in today’s environment, but stuck with it just in case I didn’t get any other offers.
Fast forward to that second round interview with my area’s sales manager and I could tell right away she had zero interest in talking to me. Monotone voice, didn’t really care about my prior experience, asked questions that seemed irrelevant, didn’t really answer any questions I had, etc. I knew right when the second the call ended I wouldn’t be moving on, and the rejection email came a week later.
I get it’s part of the game but I wish they wouldn’t have wasted my time if they had zero interest in moving me to the next round. It was very clear in the 2nd interview the area sales manager had no interest in me as a candidate. Especially when i followed the interview prep to a tee.
