Pros

I had a great experience and improved my skills a lot. I also had a lot of freedom in deciding what to do and suggesting ideas. The people in my office were the best part of the workplace for me. The salary was decent, too.

Cons

In recent years, though, it became too political. The current CEO doesn’t seem to have a positive view of offices in Europe, as he suggests that Europeans are not ready to sacrifice a sensible work-life balance. As a result, offices there are being steadily cut, and more and more engineering responsibilities are being moved to the Americas. The senior leadership in my org (Grow) also tends to pick favorites, and if you are not in that category, you are basically screwed. In addition, the leadership kept carrying out reorganizations, each time promising that the new setup would “set us up for success.” Because of that, it was very difficult to plan beyond a six-month horizon. Literally, there were one or two reorgs every year.

Pros

There are people fighting to try and turn the company around

Cons

-Favoritism is commonplace throughout the company -most management on the Grow side on commercial are not qualified for their role -Paybands are probably the lowest in this industry - Every week the headcount is trimmed without rationale - Monthly re-org affecting a different part of the company. While they may not be connected it's very difficult to build a system of growth and stability when there is another role eliminated that made the company run

High potential, low psychological safety

Pros

Unity is a recognizable name in tech with meaningful impact in the industry

Cons

In my experience, Unity Technologies is a deeply unhealthy place to work. It felt like being in a relationship with a toxic narcissist: constant hope that things would improve, followed by disappointment and emotional exhaustion. Management culture is driven by bullying, lack of accountability, and opaque decision-making. Psychological safety is low, and concerns raised through proper channels are often ignored. Women of color are disproportionately impacted—frequently sidelined, held to different standards, and excluded from meaningful decision-making. Inclusion efforts feel performative rather than real.
