Margaret Adams has worked at 23andMe for over four years in a variety of roles related to events and company culture. She currently manages company events and office services including our employee food program. She has also been called the “swag lady” because she helps with all 23andMe swag for different celebrations and events.
We’re excited to announce the extension of our GSK collaboration for a 5th year to discover and validate novel drug targets using the 23andMe database. “The collaboration with GSK has been very productive. In less than four years, under this collaboration, we have identified over 40 therapeutic programs and have advanced an immuno- oncology antibody targeting CD96 into clinical development,” said Kenneth Hillan, Head of Therapeutics at 23andMe.
As part of our 23andMe+ membership, we released two new reports powered by 23andMe Research* on basal and squamous cell carcinomas (common types of skin cancer) and melanoma. *Powered by 23andMe Research reports are developed by 23andMe scientists using data and insights gathered from thousands of customers who have consented to participate in our research.
This week we welcomed our first Speaker Series of 2022, Dr. Lauren Cook, a clinical psychologist and career coach. Dr. Cook provided 23andMe employees with action plans to cope and excel this new year. She discussed the importance of self-compassion and how to learn signs of burnout and then implement boundaries to protect yourself.
23andMe remains committed to making our product more equitable and valuable for all customers. As part of our latest update we have added genetic connections to 25 new African ethnic groups to our ancestry breakdown. This is another step to better represent the depth of our genetic diversity.
We received our third cancer risk report FDA clearance and remain the only company with multiple FDA authorizations for DTC genetic health reports. This recent clearance is for a genetic health risk report on a hereditary prostate cancer marker. “We continue to work closely with the FDA in order to provide individuals with direct access to impactful health information that can help them make important life decisions,” said Anne Wojcicki, CEO and Co-Founder of 23andMe.
