One pillar of our diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy is ensuring that our workforce reflects the communities we serve. Advancing equity in the workplace begins with acknowledging and addressing the fact that advantages and barriers exist and finding ways to create an environment where all people can thrive. Today, the majority of our enterprise workforce identifies as diverse. That kind of progress resonates with Brandi Heatherly, VP of Hospitality Enablement, Collegiate Hospitality and Chair of our EMPOWER ERG, who has made equal representation a priority in her 29 years with the company. “We want to empower women to help them achieve their goals and to become whatever they want in their careers.”
As an ERG focused on the development and advancement of its members, LEAD (Leaders and Employees of African Descent) comprises team members who self-identify as Black, African American, West Indian, or of African descent, as well as allies. To commemorate Black History Month this year, LEAD team members organized, led, and participated in a series of programs and events designed to cultivate Black leaders at Aramark, support community projects, and foster a spirit of belonging.
Aramark announced a new partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community, to launch the Aramark HBCU Emerging Leaders Program. This new program will offer 15 students from HBCUs a two-day immersion at Aramark’s headquarters in Philadelphia, PA, focusing on career exploration and professional development.
In recognition of our commitment to doing great things for our people and the planet, Aramark was recently named to Newsweek’s 2023 list of America’s Most Responsible Companies. Read on to learn more about Newsweek’s list and Aramark’s sustainability plan, Be Well. Do Well.

Account Executive Steve Conroy holds the concept of service close to his heart – much like other employees at Aramark. Accounting Lead Assistant Gia Watson (she / her) embodies one of Aramark’s core values – respect diversity and appreciate differences. She is well known in the Nashville office for being a problem-solver on our Accounting team, but she has also become a voice for change and acceptance at Aramark.
