MidMichigan Home Care’s bereavement support services is hosting An Evening of Remembrance, an event that encourages attendees to come together and remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones. The hour-long event includes music, a candle lighting ceremony, meditation and inspirational readings. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the event. The program will be offered at the following locations and on the following dates: Rose City, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 165 E. Sage Lake Road – Thursday, Oct. 24, 7 p.m. Mt. Pleasant, First United Methodist Church, 400 S. Main Street - Thursday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m. Midland, New Life Vineyard Church, 1014 E. Ashman - Thursday, Nov. 14, 7 p.m. Beaverton, Church of the Nazarene, 540 Lang Road – Thursday, Nov. 21, 7 p.m. There is no charge to attend this program. As part of MidMichigan Healthâs commitment to its employees, and in acknowledgement of the current labor market, the health system has raised its Minimum Pay Rate to $14 per hour. With more than 8,300 employees, volunteers, physicians and other personnel, approximately 1,150 will benefit from the wage increase. A non-profit health system, headquartered in Midland, Michigan, affiliated with Michigan Medicine, the health care division of the University of Michigan, MidMichigan Health covers a 23-county region with medical centers in Midland, Alpena, Alma, Clare, Gladwin, Mt. Pleasant and West Branch. The health system was recently named the top employer in Midland County and also serves as the largest employer in Alpena, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot and Ogemaw Counties.
MidMichigan Medical Center - Clare and its trauma team have been working to save the lives of critically injured patients since the hospital first began providing trauma care. As a confirmation to the trauma team's dedicated effort to providing high-quality trauma care, the Medical Center in Clare was recently designated as a Level IV Trauma Center.
A team of family medicine physicians are welcoming new patients to their practice at MidMichigan Health Park – Bay. The Health Park is located at 3051 Kiesel Road in Bay City. “The patient is at the center of everything we do. Delivering high quality patient-centered care is our focus. Our modern, innovative facility is designed to optimize the patient experience. We know that patients desire easy access to healthcare so we intentionally created a scheduling system that strives to get new patients in for their first appointment within 2 weeks,” said Family Medicine Physician, David Jordahl, M.D. “Patients can self-schedule their return office visits online, using our online portal, which enables them to choose a convenient time based on their schedule. These are some of the many ways that we deliver excellent healthcare services to the people in our communities.”
MidMichigan Home Care is hosting Butterflies in the Park, an event held under the auspices of the MidMichigan Health Foundation that includes a live butterfly release and special commemoration presentation in honor and in memory of loved ones. The program will be held on Sunday, Aug 4., at 1 p.m., at various locations throughout the region. A donation of $25 releases an individual butterfly. Proceeds benefit patients in need of home care and hospice services, medication and medical supplies.
Doors opened at 7 a.m. on July 1 to welcome patients to the new Emergency Department at MidMichigan Medical Center – West Branch. The opening marked the culmination of a year-long project to improve privacy, comfort, patient satisfaction and efficiency of care by adding a new group of physicians and a new facility. The new Emergency Department is designed to make patients feel “at home” from the moment they walk in the door through elements such as neutral décor, natural light and an inviting reception area. It is three times larger than the previous department to enhance privacy and comfort and to meet the growing needs of the community. It features 20 private treatment rooms including two large trauma rooms, plus isolation rooms for patient safety and on-site imaging for faster diagnosis and treatment.
MidMichigan Medical Center - West Branch will open the doors to its innovative new Emergency Department (ED) at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019. The new Emergency Department at the Medical Center in West Branch features 20 private patient treatment rooms (up from 11), including isolation and behavioral health rooms, trauma rooms and care initiation rooms for lower acuity patients.
For the third year in a row, MidMichigan Health was ranked in the top 20 percent (quintile) for balanced performance among small health systems nationwide by IBM Watson Health™. In 2016, MidMichigan was named a nation's Top 15 Health Systems® by Truven Health Analytics (now IBM Watson Health). For both 2017 and now 2018, we have ranked in the top quintile.
In the summer of 2017, MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland embarked on a new construction project designed to provide an environment of seamless, coordinated cardiovascular care for our patients at home and across the regions we serve. The two-phase plan would first begin with the development of a new Orchard Building to house our cardiovascular testing, imaging services, laboratory services and anticoagulation clinic, followed by phase two – the construction of a new Heart and Vascular Center. We are pleased to share the phase one portion of this project is near completion and the new Orchard Building is scheduled to open on Monday, June 24, 2019. The Heart and Vascular Center is slated to open in July 2020 with plans to provide world-class clinical care in a patient and family-friendly environment.
MidMichigan Medical Center - Midland submitted their application for Magnet® designation on April 30. What an exciting time! This is the beginning of the two to three year journey. The team will continue to work on the documents that will need to be submitted as they wait for the Magnet Recognition Program® Team to process the application.
