The WE BUILD program continues to make a meaningful impact within Orlando Health and across the community! Local businesses attended panels to learn how this internship for individuals with unique abilities benefits both people and organizations, and how to bring this model to their own teams. Joined by intern grads and team members from across the system, attendees learned how WE BUILD started, asked questions directly with hired interns and their leaders and saw the value this program brings to the workplace and employees up close.
Orlando Health Cancer Institute has been named a Cancer Center of Excellence by the Florida Department of Health! ✨ Only seven centers in Florida have earned this designation, and Orlando Health Cancer Institute is the only one in Central Florida. This recognition is awarded to programs that go beyond standard requirements to provide high-quality, comprehensive, and well-coordinated patient care. 👏 This achievement reflects the institute’s commitment to delivering advanced treatment alongside compassionate, patient-centered care. It also highlights the dedication of its multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, researchers, and support staff, who work each day to support patients and their families. As Rafael Mañon, MD, president of Orlando Health Cancer Institute, shared, “Our patients and their loved ones are at the heart of everything we do… We will continue to push the boundaries of cancer care, research and survivorship—because every life matters and every story is worth fighting for.”
Today we’re celebrating two incredible milestones. 🎉 A’Zaria (14) and La’Nijah (17) are celebrating life after gene therapy — a new groundbreaking treatment for sickle cell disease that uses a patient’s own cells, meaning no donor is needed. ✨ Grateful to be part of their journey with Dr. Rikin Shah and the team at the Haley Center for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. 🧡
What a day! 🔥🍖 The 10th Annual Backyard BBQ Cook-Off & Family Fest at Eastern Florida State College's Melbourne Campus was a huge success -- from incredible BBQ tastings and live music by Hot Pink to the Red White & Wheels car show, the energy was unmatched. 🔥 Honored to be part of an event that raises over $150,000 each year for Eastern Florida State College student scholarships. Thanks to everyone who came out, tasted, voted and supported such a great cause. 🎉
A first for Lake County in lifesaving care! Orlando Health South Lake Hospital is now the first Primary Florida Resuscitation Center of Excellence in Lake County. This recognition highlights its commitment to saving lives through high-quality cardiac arrest care and strong partnerships with local EMS. The designation, led by the Florida Resuscitation Center Committee, is awarded to hospitals that meet rigorous standards for evidence-based treatment, community CPR training, and support for patients and families. With cardiac arrest remaining a leading cause of death, this milestone reflects the hospital’s dedication to heart health, education and exceptional care for our community. For more than 75 years, Orlando Health South Lake Hospital has proudly served South Lake County and continues to raise the bar for lifesaving care. Special recognition goes to the hospital’s emergency department team for their expertise, rapid response and unwavering commitment to patients when every second counts.

🎉For the third year in a row, Orlando Health Cancer Institute’s Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program was recognized for outstanding patient survival rates for allogeneic transplants by the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research.🧬✨ Orlando Health was recognized as one of eight U.S. transplant centers that are “over-performing” and the only center in Florida to earn this distinction for two consecutive years. 🏥 The program’s success reflects a deep commitment to patient-centered care and advances in cellular therapy innovation, said Dr. Yasser Khaled, a cellular therapy specialist with the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. Since launching in 2020, the program has grown to a 30-bed inpatient unit and a 3,000-square-foot cellular therapy lab, accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), leading innovative cancer care for both adults and children. 💙
