In 2021, the PitchBook Events and Customer Experience Team hosted three customer golf tournaments in London, New York, and San Francisco. We design these events to remind our clients that PitchBook is here to support an impeccable customer experience while also supporting our communities. Attendees purchase a ticket to participate, and then PitchBook matches the total amount raised. At the end of the tournament, the winning team gets to select a charity to donate the lump sum! This year, we raised over $50,000 for charities near and dear to our client's hearts.
Our PitchBook London Cricket team finished their final match of the season! While the team did not win, fellow PitchBook employees were there to cheer them on while enjoying the warm summer evening and each other's company! After a year and a half of separation, it felt good to be with our colleagues and 'Make It Fun'!
Despite the ups and downs of the Pandemic, our team remains committed to our values: we treat customers as kings, focus on focus, drive excellence and embrace change - all while making it fun. We’re honored to be named a Best Workplace for the 7th time by Puget Sound Business Journal. Thanks to our employees for making PitchBook such a special workplace.
PitchBook is proud to announce that we placed 1st in the Technology Sector of Food Lifeline's Food Frenzy Corporate food drive! At PitchBook, Customers are King, and we believe our community deserves the same treatment. That is why through our philanthropy initiative, we volunteer our time, expertise, and financial resources to help build a future for the communities where we live and work. As part of Food Frenzy, volunteers spent over 180 hours repacking 5,550 lbs. of potatoes, sorting 4,288 lbs. of apples, organizing 5,838 lbs. of household items, bagging 1,200 lbs. of cereal as well collected food and financial donations to contribute to this win!
National Intern Day is celebrated this year on July 29th as a way to recognize and toast the future leaders of the world. PitchBook has had the privilege of working with several incredible interns who represent a number of different colleges and universities throughout the US this spring and summer. They have supported our sales, marketing, and data operation teams by maximizing PitchBook's business needs and providing a fresh perspective. Thank you, PitchBook Interns, for all your hard work! We are looking forward to watching you grow in your career!
At PitchBook, we believe that creating initiatives of intersectionality lead to a stronger and more inclusive company culture. We recently partnered with Built In to discuss the steps PitchBook is taking to influence a diverse company culture. Our Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Business Partner believes it is not only the responsibility of a designated DEI employee but the entire company to be committed to our journey in order for us to grow and be successful.
To recognize Juneteenth, PitchBook hosted an event centered on the intersection between the marijuana industry and Black communities. PitchBook's COO, Rod Diefendorf, and Leafly's Chief Product Officer, Dave Cotter, met to discuss how the cannabis industry was built through slave labor. While it is a flourishing industry today, there is a significant focus on understanding and ending the stigma of how the war on drugs has disproportionately impacted Black Americans. According to PitchBook data, Venture Capital investment is nearing 100 million dollars, and it is important to recognize and further educate our employees about its roots.
This June, PitchBook partnered with StartOut, a nonprofit accelerator with the mission to increase the number, diversity, and impact of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs. To recognize Pride, we launched a case study to highlight how StartOut leverages PitchBook data to develop groundbreaking research and methodologies to measure the LGBTQ+ entrepreneurial ecosystem. We also hosted an internal panel for employees to learn about the barriers and obstacles LGBTQ+ founders face and trends that StartOut has identified from PitchBook data. Interested in learning more? Check out the case study attached.
PitchBook Panthers put on their poker faces in last month's PitchBook Cares Virtual Charity Poker Tournament! This PitchBook tradition typically takes place in office, but due to our current remote nature, we opened the tables for a global tournament experience with employees in all offices going "all in." With a charitable twist on poker, the winner of the tournament gets to select a non-profit of their choice to donate the total earnings. We are proud to announce that this year's willer elected to donate all $9,000+ raised to Food Lifeline, a Seattle-based non-profit whose mission is to end food insecurity in Western Washington. Check out the winning reaction below! Cheers to Joanna for taking home the W for Food Lifeline!
We are proud of our partnership with the NHL Seattle Kraken! While we wait to root for our home team, we had the remarkable opportunity to learn more about the mythology behind this mysterious sea monster our mascot was named after! Earlier this month, PitchBook was joined by UW Professor, Lauren Poyer, who shared her expertise on Scandanavian mythology and the Kraken. Fun Fact: the monster as we know it today, was first depicted as a giant whale as early as the 12th century!
