I’m actually supposed to be in a school teaching kids. Life pivot though…my part-time job while at uni studying a Bachelor of Education was working on an IT help desk for a chain retail stores. Somehow I ended up staying and being a trainer on a project for them. I loved to travel & they had stores all over Australia. I thought: Kym Price, Corporate Trainer. Why not? I’ve since finished my MBA and worked in organisations that sent me around the world training all kinds of people, in all kinds of places. I’ve been everywhere from open-cut mines in steel capped boots (yeah!) to New York City (yeah yeah!), Istanbul, Amsterdam, Vegas, Manilla, Korea, Bangkok, etc. etc. etc.! Qualtrics is never satisfied. Meaning we don’t complete or undertake something and then wipe our hands and move on. We continuously work to improve and make things better. Working at a company where they understand the power of small improvements and iterations allows you to move fast and change fast. This also allows you to trust more junior level employees with big projects because the project does not need to be perfect the first time. Everyone has an innate need to help other people. This is why it feels so good when you do something kind for another person. Or when you watch someone else be kind to others. I want to spend my life helping people. And Qualtrics has allowed me to do that in a multitude of ways. I help researchers by providing services that save them time and make their lives easier, I help them get their research published so they can make tenure and uncover knowledge that is ultimately changing the world we live in. Qualtrics connects with my why on so many levels. In my role the opportunity is limitless. We are ‘All In’ for our customers and when I’m on, I’m on. But I am not expected to work late nights, weekends or holidays – nor do I. It is wonderful to be part of an organisation where customer support is always on.
