RedHawk renovations: Miami University’s Department of Global and Intercultural Studies as well as their Global Initiatives offices occupy the basement level of MacMillan Hall, one of 16 buildings on the school’s Oxford, Ohio campus. And up until this summer, the space looked like a typical basement too. The university reached out to SSOE for help transforming the space, despite us previously collaborating with them on just a few small projects at the time. We opened up the space to create a more vibrant, student-centered environment by widening the main corridor, improving lighting, and more. Collectively, our team provided electrical, structural, data / fire / security, fire protection, mechanical, and interior design services within a compressed project schedule so the space could be fully operation in time for fall classes. BIG news: SSOE Group was once again recognized by Consulting-Specifying Engineer as an MEP Giant. Earlier this month, Bruce Schaff, Mechanical Department Manager and Senior Associate, accepted the award on behalf of SSOE at the recognition ceremony in Chicago. Strength in numbers: SSOE’s Sonny Hamizadeh and Scott Goodwin have both been wearing pink in September and October to raise breast cancer awareness and funds as part of Northwest Ohio’s Real Men Wear Pink campaign. We recently announced employee certifications that occurred during the fourth quarter of our 2019 planning year. At SSOE, attainment of professional licensures and certifications is strongly encouraged. In fact, we cover the expense of preparation classes and exam fees as well as provide paid time off to take the exam.
