Another step in the right direction: Downtown Toledo continues down the path of revitalization with Directions Credit Union’s headquarters and new branch now occupying the recently renovated Tower on the Maumee. SSOE’s multidisciplinary team, who provided architectural and interior design as well as engineering services, partnered with local companies Lathrop and 2-Scale to deliver the 34,000 SF headquarters and 1,300 SF branch that will be easily accessible to downtown residents and continue to elevate the community where our own headquarters resides. Last week, we proudly joined our client and partners at the ceremonial ribbon cutting where Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and City Council Member Sandy Spang shared a few words.

Three cheers for SSOE’s Erin Curley and Kevin Costello who were recently voted to serve on the Bowling Green State University Architectural Advisory Committee’s Executive Board as president and secretary, respectively. Both Erin and Kevin have served on the committee for several years, most recently collaborating to write the newly instated Charter Constitution and By-Laws. The committee and board supports the university’s architecture and environmental design program to ensure it evolves with the needs of the profession while connecting students with a network of design leaders who can provide them real-world context and opportunities.

Back to school is fast approaching, and we want to help students start the school year off right. Join 1,000+ members of the Toledo-area community, including the SSOE team, to make a major impact in a small amount of time at the United Way of Greater Toledo’s “Kickoff to Caring”. The event, which takes place during the morning on Wednesday, August 7th, will be at Owens Community College’s Student Health and Activities Center. On the ball in Mexico! Last week, our Mexico office’s Employee Club took advantage of the beautiful weather in Léon with a night at the ballpark. Our Mexico team has been stepping up to the plate, working hard on several in-country projects including a greenfield automotive project in Aguascalientes and Walmart distribution center in Chihuahua. As a reward, employees and their families were invited to take a load off and enjoy baseball and barbecue at the Estadio Domingo Santana, home of the Mexican League’s Léon Bravos. The Tijuana Bulls knocked it out of the park, defeating the Bravos 13 to 8, but our team had such a great time they hardly noticed the score. #SSOEmexico #workperks #chooseSSOE
