Leading the way in workforce development design: when Youngstown State University began looking for an A/E team to design their Excellence Training Center, they wanted a firm with a niche expertise that could turn their vision into reality. Thanks to our ranking as a top 10 design firm in four industrial markets by industry-leading publication ENR and a higher education client list made up of nearly 40 universities, YSU selected SSOE—coupling higher education experience with industrial know-how to deliver a student-focused space. YSU’s workforce training facility, with an expected groundbreaking in fall of this year, will offer a real-life simulated advanced manufacturing environment housing approximately $5.5 million in equipment. #WorkforceDevelopment
When a natural disaster strikes, who better to evaluate if a building is safe than the people who design them every day? SSOE’s Erin Curley recently became a nationally certified Safety Assessment Program Volunteer—currently one of 35 certified architects in Ohio and the only certified architect in Toledo, where our world headquarters resides. This certification allows Erin to assess whether it’s safe for people to occupy a structure following a natural disaster in an effort to quickly provide shelter to those in need. Erin was inspired to obtain this certification following the recent tornadoes in Dayton, after which she learned there were only four architects in Ohio able to report. #SSOEcares #ForSafetysSake
