Keeping it clean: we recently completed our design of this modular / stick-built hybrid 7,000 SF cleanroom for one of our longstanding semiconductor clients. This ISO Class 7 cleanroom was delivered using the EPC approach, which provided our client with a single source of responsibility from concept to completion. To boost morale during a busy week of deliverables, a sneaky someone at our Nashville office set up a puzzle station in the breakroom. The idea was to offer employees a quick reprieve from their workload. After a few days and the combined efforts of our staff, the 750-piece puzzle—which displayed some of the things that make Tennessee special—was complete. Serving as a metaphor for how we attack our projects, the activity exercised the same collaboration muscles it takes to do our job of taking our client’s challenges, no matter how puzzling, and working together to provide a solution that fits. #SSOEsoutheast #chooseSSOE
Creating value from disruption: two members of SSOE’s Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team, Tony Sabat and Justin Lipsey, attended the AEC Next Technology Expo + Conference and SPAR 3D in Anaheim, California last month—an international event for the application of 3D technology in the AEC industry. With recurring themes of robotic construction, immersive virtual experiences, automation, prefab, and AI, the joint conference reaffirmed what we as an organization have been preparing for: disruption. Tony, a BIM / CAD Technical Specialist and licensed drone pilot, presented two sessions at the event, both of which examined how we can use technology to offer a better deliverable to our clients while making the design / build process more fluid.
