PRESS RELEASE: SSOE Group Announces Employee Licensures and Certifications for Second Quarter of Planning Year 2019. At SSOE, attainment of professional licensures and certifications is strongly encouraged. We cover the expense of preparation classes and exam fees as well as provide paid time off to take the exam. Playing house: on Thursday, volunteers from SSOE Group joined Toledo-area businesses at Fifth Third Field for a single day of building 30 playhouses, each of which were donated to a Lucas County child. Our team constructed, painted, and decorated a playhouse for 3-year-old Elijah, who is a big fan of superheroes—namely Spiderman and the Hulk (a clear Marvel enthusiast, sorry DC). We’re happy to report this project came in under budget and within schedule, just like we like. In addition to bringing joy to local children and their families, the event raised over 100k for Habitat for Humanity. Safety is no accident: last week, SSOE’s Vince DiPofi and Nate Czerniejewski attended the Safety Council of Northwest Ohio’s Recognition Awards where we received two awards for our commitment to safety. We were once again honored with a Special Award, this time for working more than 2.5 million hours over the July 21, 2017 to December 31, 2018 time span without a lost-time injury. Additionally, SSOE Systems—our construction management division—received the 100% Award for no lost-time injuries in the past year. Of note, SSOE Systems has been injury-free since its inception a decade ago. #ForSafetysSake
Working well: earlier this week, our Wellness Committee members across the U.S. held a special event at their respective locations where they handed out portion clips and healthy snacks. The aim was to give employees an opportunity to provide feedback on SSOE’s wellness programs and share any ideas they might have for future initiatives. This open dialogue allows our committee—whose mission involves educating and empowering employees to “take care”—to make recommendations to human resources as they work to continuously improve our already award-winning benefits package. Louise Schlatter, Master Architect and Principal at SSOE, was featured in an article in this week’s Toledo City Paper, which asks various local thought leaders their take on the plastic pollution plaguing the Great Lakes. A longstanding proponent of sustainable practices, Louise was SSOE’s first LEED Accredited Professional, a certification she’s leveraged to help our clients achieve a number of their own firsts, including LEED Platinum certification for Volkswagen’s $1 billion automotive production facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Yesterday, we joined our client and partners at the ceremonial groundbreaking for the City of Fremont’s four new elementary schools. SSOE’s multidisciplinary team provided project management, architectural, interior design, and furniture specification services for all four schools.
SSOE's Lauren Collier, Virtual Design and Construction Department Manager, is featured in Autodesk University's Connect and Construct video promoting AU London. Although we won't be traveling across the pond this June, we look forward to attending AU Las Vegas in November where our resident BIM and AEC technology experts have been invited to present for the past 8 years. Autodesk has been a longstanding industry partner as we've implemented the latest technologies into our workflows. Watch the video here: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMd8e.
Full STEMM ahead! Earlier this month, we joined The University of Toledo for their Women in STEMM Day of Meetings (WISDOM) event—a day for high school girls to visit the college and explore careers in science and technology. The program specifically targets sophomore and junior girls from local public schools. Our employees had a great time getting to know participants during our Build a Simple Motor workshop, an experimental demonstration of the motor effect—which occurs when a current-carrying wire in the presence of a magnetic field experiences a force. #SSOEcares
¡Día de las Madres! Last Friday, our new Human Resources Generalist in Mexico welcomed all the mothers of the office with flowers and a gift. To further celebrate the day, the office’s Employee Club rewarded them sweetly with cupcakes. #SSOEmexico #workperks #chooseSSOE
