We're excited to celebrate our 150th hire in 2023 on the heels of being named a Great Place to Work for the sixth time. As we outpace our 2022 performance in both revenue and market share, we view the recruitment and retention of top talent as a strategic focus. Upwards from last year's 89%, this year 93% of employees rated SSOE as a great place to work—compared to a benchmark of 57% for the average U.S. company. In March 2020, the COVID pandemic forced our entire industry to shift to remote work—something few firms had contemplated and none preferred. Most firms survived and performed better than they expected. In fact, many had some of their busiest and most profitable years during this period, resulting in them adopting hybrid work practices for good. Next Thursday, Jim Jaros, Chief Financial and Legal Officer at SSOE, will serve on WTW's four-person panel of AEC executives that will discuss research developed by Cameron MacAllister Group on the topic of “Design Risk in a Hybrid Practice.”
At SSOE, DEI is a commitment to create a culture that encourages growth at all levels. This includes developing policies internally that support equity for all employees. By building trust and valuing team results, this becomes a strategic advantage that benefits us all. In this video, the third of four in our DEI at SSOE series, SSOE’s Vince DiPofi, CEO, talks with Candice Harrison, Director of DEI, about diversity of thought as an output of successful DEI efforts rather than the target.
Simran Bajaj and David Johnson, two of our net-zero energy experts, will present "High Performance Warehouse Design" as part of the University of Idaho's Integrated Design Lab Building Simulation Users Group Lecture Series tomorrow in Boise. SSOE's Jennifer Breault, Architect and Chair of the firm’s Sustainable Design Strategy Group, quoted within. #PressRelease
A step in the right direction. Our Atlanta office’s Employee Club teamed up with the United Way of Greater Atlanta to donate time and resources to fill and wrap shoeboxes packed with toiletries for people experiencing homelessness. The Shoebox Project unites volunteers, corporations, and nonprofit partners through a shared goal to build compassionate and connected communities. #SSOEsoutheast #SSOEcares

While DEI has been a big part of our internal discussions here at SSOE, we’re excited to share those conversations externally. As we work to make DEI a part of our DNA, we’re looking to include our clients, industry peers, and prospective employees on what we’re up to and show them our “why.” In this video, the second of four in our DEI at SSOE series, SSOE’s Vince DiPofi, CEO, asks Candice Harrison, Director of DEI, about the journey and dives a little deeper into the thought behind our Employee Resource Groups.
Portland Business Journal and SSOE's Catherine Myers, President and Chief Operating Officer, recently talked business following her appointment as one of the publication's Executives of the Year. What personality traits does Cathy think have served her best in business? Curiosity to understand an issue and problem-solving to remove the issue. #SSOEportland
Our move to the #2 spot in Engineering News-Record's manufacturing design list reflects an increase of three spots over last year’s numbers and further solidifies SSOE as the go-to firm for industrial facility design. We had a blast at this week’s JA Inspire event at downtown Toledo’s Glass City Center. Students in grades 8th-12th engaged in hands-on experiential exhibits, including our interactive 3D model activity. The event aims to expose these students to various career paths. SSOE is a corporate sponsor of Junior Achievement of Northwestern Ohio where Brad Rowe, Vice President of People and Culture, serves as chair of the board.
