SSOE in South Carolina celebrated 45 years earlier this month! Nestled in the heart of Downtown Columbia since 1978, this office primarily supports architecturally led projects for healthcare, education, commercial, and government / judicial clients, as well as many cultural and historical attractions—like the 17-story Meridian Building on Main Street and South Carolina Court of Appeals. #SSOEsoutheast
Celebrating MLK Day. Last year, we added MLK Day as a paid holiday for employees—encouraging them to use this time for acts of service, to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy, and to consider what we are doing to create unity in our offices, our teams, our communities. #MLKday
Growth by addition: This Building Design & Construction Magazine article features some of the publication’s “Engineering Giants” who’ve entered new practices and markets that are driving significant growth—a list that includes SSOE Group. While we’ve been at the forefront of the transition to electric vehicles (thanks to our unique experience in the automotive, chemical, and semiconductor markets), we’ve been pursuing these types of projects more aggressively as of late. Today, we’re engaged in more than 20 EV projects across North America.
SSOE Group recently featured in this Engineering News-Record article highlighting what will be our client's first standalone EV battery facility in the U.S. The Japanese-based company’s expansion in De Soto will be transformative for the entire state of Kansas—bringing in a projected $2.5 billion in yearly economic activity to make it the largest economic development undertaking in the state’s history. It will also allow the battery manufacturer to ramp up production to meet surging demand and lead the evolution of the EV industry in the U.S.
Earlier this month, our Nashville office's Employee Club set the holiday spirit in motion with their annual holiday party welcoming both new and familiar faces. It took a dedicated team to spruce up the conference room with decorative garland, trees, and lights. The evening included dinner, a raffle giveaway, and suspenseful Texas Hold’em tournament that ended in a showdown between structural engineer Thomas Vines and architectural designer Gouri Hiremath’s seven-year-old daughter, Netra. #SSOEsoutheast #chooseSSOE
At SSOE, we love donating our time, talents, and financial support to a variety of nonprofit organizations that are important to our clients and colleagues across the U.S. and around the world. We recently partnered with our friends at Walbridge to help our client Nikola Motor Company reach their $100,000 fundraising goal for Phoenix Children's Hospital. This is the automaker’s fourth year doing its “Making A Difference in the Life of a Sick or Injured Child” campaign. In addition to fundraising, 30 bikes were assembled and given to patient families to make the holidays a little brighter. #SSOEcares
Our Midland office recently celebrated the holidays with our client, Corteva Agriscience. SSOE sponsored the event, held at Dow Diamond where the Great Lakes Loons call home. Back in 2020, we announced our multi-year master services agreement to provide engineering services to Corteva. Employees enjoyed celebrating our continued partnership with the agriculture company at the stadium’s Tri-Star Club.
Our Mexico office’s Employee Club recently held a Posada celebration with dinner, dancing, and more. Employees gathered at Club del Lago in the golden zone of León, and leadership from across the U.S.—including CEO Vince DiPofi and President Catherine Myers—traveled south of the border to join them. There was much to celebrate this year, including hiring our 100th employee in Mexico and expanding our office in León to better accommodate our in-country growth. And the night wouldn’t be complete without a game of “SSOE Feud” to test our firm knowledge. #SSOEmexico #chooseSSOE
On island time! Our team in Atlanta celebrated the holidays together at the world-famous S.O.S. Tiki Bar in Decatur—a quick MARTA ride away from the office. While none of our employees were up for workshopping any stand-up material (we asked!), they did enjoy a silly generational slang decoding game and gift card raffle along with exotic eats and tropical cocktails. #SSOEsoutheast #chooseSSOE
Panasonic Energy of North America recently announced its selection of SSOE Group as the provider of primary engineering design and architectural design oversight for the company’s EV battery plant in De Soto, Kansas. This is Panasonic's first standalone EV battery facility in the U.S. SSOE has been at the forefront of the transition to EV—working with the world’s largest and most innovative battery companies to support the manufacturing process at every point in the supply chain. #PressRelease
