Earlier this month, SSOE decorated a room at Metroparks Toledo’s iconic Manor House as we inch closer to our 75th anniversary in August. We’re celebrating across the 12 months leading up to this important milestone, and a team of employees went to work (much like Santa’s elves) bringing SSOE and the holiday spirit into the historic 30,000 SF mansion. Sharp as steel: Six structural engineers in our Mumbai office recently wrapped up a 7-week online seismic design course hosted by the American Institute of Steel Construction. Topics included a review of earthquake engineering, seismic design of braced and moment frames, building analysis, and diaphragm design. On the safe side: SSOE recently received the Platinum Award for achieving a safety score greater than 95% in Highwire's Safety Assessment Program. Last month, SSOE announced our multi-year gift to The University of Toledo College of Engineering, which will cultivate a more diverse future for our industry’s talent pipeline. Expanding on this, we had a few students from the ABET-accredited school’s Society of Women Engineers spend the day with us at our world headquarters last Friday. Our Director of DEI, Candice Harrison, took our visitors around the office and showed them a day in the life at our firm. In addition to talking with our CEO and Vice President of People and Culture, our visitors also enjoyed a roundtable discussion with SSOE’s Louise Schlatter—a master architect who also holds degrees in civil engineering and construction management.
SSOE’s Dominic Torres and Daniel Clark recently participated in a case study with one of our vendor partners, Veeam Software. With our technical experts using data-intensive tools daily to complete our complex designs, data protection is a primary concern. Veeam offers a more automated data protection solution.
