Metroparks Toledo’s Holidays at the Manor House returns next month, and SSOE has decorated the lower-level “Grill Room” as part of our yearlong 75th anniversary activities—celebrating 75 years across 12 months. One of Northwest Ohio’s most festive events, Holidays at the Manor House is a free holiday historic home tour that volunteers have decorated for over 45 years. The iconic 30,000 SF mansion, a Georgian Colonial that originally belonged to Toledo’s Stranahan family, resides in the Wildwood Preserve. SSOE’s room has one of the Manor House’s 16 original fireplaces, which perfectly fits in with our “Santa’s Workshop” theme! #SSOEcelebrates75
General Motors' Factory ZERO facility, initially built in 1985 and known as Detroit-Hamtramck, is designed and constructed to manufacture the GMC Hummer EV pickup and SUV, Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra Denali EV, and Cruise Origin—an electric, self-driving, shared vehicle. Working with Walbridge on this design / build partnership, SSOE provided A/E services for the complete interior demolition and renovation of GM's 700,000 SF paint shop at Factory Zero and served as the architect of record. We ❤️ Veterans! Our Toledo office’s Employee Club held a special lunch in honor of Veteran’s Day. Employees donated to Veterans Matter in exchange for lunch, with the exception of veterans who ate for free. The event, catered by delicious downtown deli Foccaccia’s, resulted in us raising nearly $750 for the nonprofit (and enough to get one veteran off the streets and into housing by the holidays). Once our CEO Vince DiPofi heard the news, he insisted on personally matching our employees' contributions and decided SSOE would also match for a total donation of over $2,000. To top it off, SSOE’s Ronda Friesel who organized the event—and is a proud mom to two veterans—made 17 pies to share with employees. #VeteransDay #SSOEcares
Our CEO, Vince DiPofi, has been visiting all SSOE’s offices this year. His final stop was an exciting visit to Mumbai where he got to meet our newest staff. Our Mumbai office has grown over 20% this year, and they’ve been working on major projects across our many business units. Vince was impressed with the staff’s enthusiastic attitude and technical strengths. #SSOEindia
Last week, our Mexico office celebrated Día de Muertos! A tradition in homes throughout Mexico, altares de muertos are set in early November. Employees decorated an altar at the office and brought photos of loved ones they wished to honor—those who’ve passed but have not been forgotten. The office’s Employee Club also organized a traditional (and delicious) tamale lunch. #SSOEmexico #chooseSSOE
