Every Wednesday in June, we’re using our social media to spread awareness of some glaring issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community. According to a Catalyst article published last month, LGBTQ+ employees often face hostility in the workplace with almost half (45.5%) in the U.S. having experienced, at some point in their careers, some form of unfair treatment at work—including harassment, being fired, or facing hiring discrimination based on their LGBTQ+ status. Nonprofits like Equality Toledo, located near our world headquarters, work to eliminate discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression through education, activism, and other anti-defamation efforts. In honor of Pride Month, SSOE is matching any employee donation made to a nonprofit that supports the LGBTQ+ community during the month of June. #PrideMonth #SSOEcares
Urbanize Atlanta recently featured this article highlighting the new town green in Avondale Estates, a growing city just east of Atlanta. SSOE | S&W led the architectural design of the commercial development and overall project management. With our Atlanta-based partners at Fabric Development and Site Solutions, a landscape architecture firm, we set forth to design a town green that engages and activates this dynamic community. And based on the number of people it’s already driving to the city’s downtown commercial district, we think we’ve done just that. #SSOEsoutheast
Freedom Day! Today is the federal observance of Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. Juneteenth is a celebration that dates back to June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordan Granger and his Union soldiers landed in Galveston, Texas to share the war had ended and the enslaved were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect. Juneteenth is a time to come together as a community to celebrate freedom and reflect on our nation’s constant journey toward equality. #Juneteenth
In the news: SSOE Group, along with our friends at Yates Construction, featured in this Commercial Property Executive article that highlights our KORE Power gigafactory project in Buckeye, Arizona. The 2 million SF facility, named KOREPlex, will break ground this year.
Every Wednesday in June, we’re using our social media to spread awareness of some glaring issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community. In 2021, the Human Rights Campaign tracked a record number of violent fatal incidents against transgender and gender non-conforming people. A majority of these people were Black and Hispanic transgender women. Nonprofits like Basic Rights Oregon, located near our Portland office, advocate for LGBTQ+ communities that are particularly oppressed, face astonishing rates of violence and discrimination, and whose basic rights are far from secure. In honor of Pride Month, SSOE is matching any employee donation made to a nonprofit that supports the LGBTQ+ community during the month of June. #PrideMonth #SSOEcares
Press Release: SSOE Group Makes Huge Rankings Jump as one of the Fastest-Growing Architectural, Engineering, Planning, and Environmental Consulting Firms in the U.S. This year—which is the fifth consecutive year Zweig Group has included SSOE in its Hot Firms listing—we're #34, reflecting an increase of 59 spots over 2021 results. Our CEO Vince DiPofi, along with Zweig Group's Jamie Claire Kiser, quoted within. #PressRelease
Every Wednesday in June, we’re using our social media to spread awareness of some glaring issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community. According to a 2021 Insider article, LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than heterosexual youth. Nonprofits like Launch Pad, located near our Nashville office, provide safe, emergency housing for LGBTQ+ youth. In honor of Pride Month, SSOE is matching any employee donation made to a nonprofit that supports the LGBTQ+ community during the month of June. #PrideMonth #SSOEcares
Designing and building the future for our Toledo community! Yesterday, employees from our world headquarters spent the day at Fifth Third Field along with 27 local businesses to help build 30 playhouses, each of which were donated to a child in Northwest Ohio. The SSOE-sponsored event, known as the Playhouse Project Blitz Build, is Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity’s biggest fundraiser of the year and helps the nonprofit organization provide affordable housing to families in need. This year, our team designed, constructed, and decorated a playhouse for 5-year-old twins who love dinosaurs and princesses—so we went with a castle with a dinosaur on guard (and of course, we arrived with CAD drawings in hand!). #SSOEcares
SSOE celebrates Pride Month! Today kicks off a month-long series of events in cities across the U.S. that—in addition to recognizing and celebrating LGBTQ+ individuals—also have a positive economic impact in their respective communities. We strive to offer an inclusive and affirming environment where all employees can feel safe, valued, and supported in bringing their whole self to work. In honor of Pride Month, SSOE will match any employee donation made to The Trevor Project—a nonprofit focused on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth—or any other nonprofit that supports our LGBTQ+ community during the month of June. #PrideMonth #SSOEcares
Huntsville ranked #1! U.S. News and World Report recently gave Huntsville, Alabama the top spot in the publication’s 150 Best Places to Live in the U.S. listing. Our technical experts in Huntsville—a majority of which specialize in MEP engineering—have made SSOE a go-to firm in the area. While we’ve had a presence in in Huntsville for more than 20 years, we’ve been delivering projects in Alabama for almost 50. (P.S. We’re hiring in Huntsville, join our team!) #SSOEsoutheast #chooseSSOE
