Last week, we kicked off Pride Month with a statement of support from our CEO. We will continue to reflect on the important roles of LGBTQ+ people and celebrate those who have been trailblazers in the AEC industry throughout the month. Today, we highlight Pierre Charles L’Enfant, a civil engineer, architect, and urban designer who laid out the original plans for the streets of Washington, D.C. Pierre served as a staff member to George Washington during the Revolutionary War, was a professor of engineering at West Point, and ran a civil engineering firm in New York City. #PrideMonth
¡Día del Niño! Back in April, our León office celebrated Children’s Day, a holiday that originated in Mexico and dates back to 1925. A day that recognizes the importance of children in society and promoting their well-being, Children’s Day often includes special activities, family time, and gifts. Our Human Resources team in León made sure each of our employees had a gift to take home to their children to commemorate the day. #workperks #SSOEmexico #chooseSSOE

Last week, volunteers from SSOE Group teamed up with Toledo-area businesses at Fifth Third Field to help build over 20 playhouses, each of which were donated to a child in Northwest Ohio. The SSOE-sponsored event, known as the Playhouse Project Blitz Build, is Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity’s biggest fundraiser of the year and helps the nonprofit organization provide affordable housing to families in need. This year, our team designed, constructed, and decorated a playhouse for a family with four very happy children. #SSOEcares

Memorial Day is an opportunity to honor those who paid the ultimate price to preserve the freedom we enjoy. SSOE not only remembers those who have sacrificed it all, but also the loved ones left behind who feel their absence. Your sacrifice is recognized and appreciated. And to our clients, colleagues, and community members who have served or are currently serving, thank you for your willingness to put yourself in harm’s way to protect the rest of us. Our debt is one that cannot be repaid, but we offer our highest appreciation and respect. As you are enjoying this time with family, please take a moment together to remember and honor those who have inspired this holiday and ensure their legacy lives on. #MemorialDay
