SSOE has participated as a host organization in the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program for the past several years, which helps transitioning service members gain the skills needed to successfully re-enter the civilian workforce and one of many ways SSOE is actively involved with supporting veterans. Holly Crisp, who works in our Nashville office, has been a coach and mentor to these veterans through the years. Because of her involvement in the program and our partnership with the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Holly was nominated to participate in the “Soldier for a Day” event at Fort Campbell last month. At SSOE, we love hiring veterans. We recognize the valuable skillsets military personnel possess and how directly relatable those skills are to our civilian positions—and actively employ more than 60 veterans at our various locations. #SSOEsoutheast #chooseSSOE
Batteries included: SSOE’s nationally ranked experience in the automotive manufacturing, semiconductor, and chemical specialties brings a unique perspective to the complex process environment of the emerging battery manufacturing market. We are experts in both large-scale greenfield facilities and retrofits of existing facilities. As the designer of the world’s first LEED Platinum automotive assembly plant, SSOE brings a sustainable approach to design that ensures battery facilities align with their mission to redefine how the world consumes energy. Our decades of experience in these mature industries have intersected to perfectly position us with the knowledge required to deliver a facility that is optimized and able to keep up with the ever-increasing global demand driven by the electric vehicle boom.
Pramod Mishra, BIM2Fab® Steel Section Manager who works in our India office, recently participated in a vaccination drive for senior citizens in Mumbai. SSOE in stereo: Yesterday morning, SSOE’s Sarah Heerten and Nicholas Bryan, both employees at our Nashville office, were on air at Hippie Radio's Music Row studios for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Member Spotlight. We had the exciting opportunity to talk about our deep roots in the Southeast U.S., including 30 years and over 2,000 projects in Tennessee alone. Take a listen to the interview if you missed it live, we're sure you'll enjoy it and learn a lot about what we're up to in the Southeast U.S. #SSOEsoutheast
United Way of Greater Toledo’s Campaign Celebration is an annual event where the network of local nonprofit fundraising affiliates expresses their gratitude to their community partners. We’re excited to share that SSOE was honored with the following five awards at this week’s virtual event: Best in Show, Campaign Manager Hall of Fame, CEO Hall of Fame, Pillar Award, and Top Year-Round Engagement. At SSOE, we believe that volunteerism and giving back is paramount to a community’s success—it’s even part of our corporate vision. We have set a specific goal for each of our employees to contribute 20 hours of community service annually, the equivalent of one full-time community worker for every 100 employees. Our support for the United Way goes back decades, dating back to our founder Al Samborn’s involvement with the organization in the early eighties, making this an extra-special feather in our cap. #SSOEcares #LiveUnited *Photo was taken prior to the coronavirus pandemic
Thriving in the new normal: SSOE’s Matt Oberts, Senior Vice President with over two decades of automotive and manufacturing facility design experience, was featured in this month’s Engineering News-Record cover story. The article explores how some of ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms spent 2020 adapting to the pandemic and how they’ll evolve to take on what’s next. Moving up a spot in manufacturing design with the #4 ranking, SSOE had one of the most successful years in its history and increased staff by more than 25%. The shift to electric vehicles, in particular, has generated several opportunities and opened the door for us to support the entire supply chain—including the exploding need for lithium-ion batteries and semiconductors.
Employees from SSOE’s León, Mexico office participated in a riverside cleanup of Arroyo el Granizo in honor of Earth Day. The office’s Employee Club coordinated the event and supplied them with lunch and all the gear and equipment needed to keep everyone safe. The result was over 30 large bags of litter removed along with several boxes of glass and tile. #EarthDay #SSOEmexico #SSOEcares #chooseSSOE
It’s Architecture Week, and we’re celebrating the impact architects make on our communities! Architects not only seek to reflect the communities they serve but enhance them through the spaces and experiences they bring to life. This past year, SSOE Group and 100-year-old firm Stevens & Wilkinson merged our architecture businesses together to form an outstanding and talented design team that has enhanced the resources and portfolio we bring to our existing clients and markets —while adding world-class expertise in historical renovations and the judicial market. #ArchitectureWeek

Plus, employees have the opportunity to earn money for their favorite charities through SSOE’s volunteerism program. #SSOEcares #chooseSSOE
