SSOE | Stevens & Wilkinson was recently featured in The Architect’s Newspaper for their work transforming the landmark David T. Howard School in Atlanta. The school, attended by a number of prominent African Americans including Martin Luther King, Jr., will now serve Atlantans as a public middle school. Our newly acquired team oversaw the landscape and building redesign as well as historic rehabilitation elements. #SSOEsoutheast
In honor of Black History Month, we are showcasing some of the contributions that African Americans have made to the AEC industry every Friday in February. First up is Ursula Burns, a mechanical engineer who became the first Black female CEO of a Fortune 500 company in 2010. She was also selected by President Barack Obama to help lead the STEM Education Coalition, a national alliance of more than 1,000 technological organizations striving to improve student participation and performance in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics subject areas through legislative advocacy. #BlackHistoryMonth
