Bring your family to work day in Toronto! On Tuesday, we opened our doors to family members for a fun-filled family day at the office. It was heartwarming to see a diverse mix of guests—from children to parents to partners - all coming together and feeling welcome. Guests started their day at the office with gelato and a photo booth in the lobby. The fun continued with lawn games, face painting, bracelet making, a mural coloring station, cotton candy, and a delicious BBQ on our tenth-floor terrace with views of the CN Tower. Thank you to our amazing teammates for making this day so special by bringing your loved ones and creating special memories with us. Check out some of the photos from the day!
Learning and growing your skills are two of the most important pillars of our internship program. Check out how Amanda, a Practical Law Legal Intern, has embraced this mindset in her internship. "Working directly with Practical Law resources has not only developed my legal writing skills but also improved my ability to produce accurate citations. At the same time, I'm gaining a deep understanding of the complex legal issues that our Practical Law resources cover. Outside of my day-to-day work, I've had the opportunity to get involved with several of the pro bono causes that Thomson Reuters supports. Working with the Giffords Law Center, I've learned about the different statutory protections that Minnesota has for victims of stalking and harassment. I'm excited to keep learning as I continue working with Thomson Reuters throughout my third year of law school."
"I recently had the opportunity to attend and present at the #SIGIR2024 conference. The event showcased the latest advancements in information retrieval and sparked many new ideas for the future of this field, particularly in the context of generative AI and large language models. "Having been with TR Labs for nearly five years, I can confidently say that this is a place where you can truly make an impact. My team and I are working on enhancing AI capabilities of CoCounsel, a Thomson Reuters product, by improving legal document review tasks (question answering, summarization, etc.) and legal document drafting tasks (transactional and litigation). We're also developing sophisticated document understanding models and services that empower AI functionalities of our #LegalTech offerings. "What I enjoy most about working at TR Labs is applying cutting-edge AI technologies to solve complex (but exciting) challenges, collaborating with brilliant people with diverse perspectives and skill sets, and ultimately boosting productivity for legal professionals. "Attending the SIGIR conference was invaluable for staying updated with the latest research, networking with peers working on similar problems, and meeting the brightest talent in academia. At TR Labs, we are passionate about pushing the boundaries of research and innovation. If you want to join a team that thrives on innovation and collaboration, explore our open positions." Ali, Manager, Applied Research, Canada

It's time for our first #BeYouAtTR - Intern Edition of the summer! Meet Vedant, a Software Engineer Intern on our ONESOURCE team in Toronto. "As an Intern at Thomson Reuters, I appreciate the work-life balance that Thomson Reuters creates. The friendly work culture and efforts in planning memorable events provide ample opportunities to socialize and feel welcomed in the Toronto office. Working on the ONESOURCE Tax provision platform has been particularly rewarding, offering me numerous learning opportunities and a sense of achievement when I see my contributions reflected in the deployed software. What stands out most about my experience so far is the willingness of everyone at Thomson Reuters —whether it's another intern, a team member, or a manager—to offer support and answer questions. Such a supportive culture is rare, and I feel fortunate to be part of the Thomson Reuters community."
