On Nov. 21, 2015, 14-year-old Da'Quan Nichols-Cox lost his life from injuries sustained in a car accident. Through the gift of organ donation, he was able to save the lives of five children in need. Two years to the day after his passing, Da'Quan's mother Inica met four of the recipients of Da'Quan's organs and their families. Meet Randy Zick, a team lead in our Michigan lab who is celebrating his 10-year anniversary with Versiti. "I work in the components lab, where we receive the blood donations coming in from the blood drives and blood centers," he said. "From there, I break down the whole blood into different components that the hospitals can use, then ship the blood products to different hospitals." Thank you for all of your hard work, Randy
As director of Versiti Diagnostic Labs’ operational excellence team, Leanne Deptula directs quality improvement efforts across the organization and works closely with leaders to meet customer needs. “I enjoy the variability in my day to day,” she says. “I don’t always know what the day will bring and that keeps things interesting. I like that I get to work with many teams and individuals within our Diagnostic Labs and across service lines.

When he was just 2 years old, Isaac Walker was diagnosed with leukemia and underwent two years of treatment before his cancer went into remission. However, in 2015, Isaac's cancer returned and he underwent a successful bone marrow transplant that saved his life.
