We'd like to give a shout out to our team at Lri-Pierce County Recycling Composting and Disposal Washington. Since the pandemic started, they have taken donations, primarily in small $1 and $2 increments, at the scale houses from both customers and employees. To date, they have raised nearly $21,000, proving that doing a little really adds up. These donations have supported many local food banks across the county including Graham-South Hill, Bonney Lake Food Bank, GIG Harbor Peninsula Fish Food Bank, Key Peninsula Bischoff and Food Backpacks 4 Kids, Tacoma Rescue Mission and YMCA Camp Seymour Seymour Scholars. Way to go team! Thank you for being a perfect example of how much #wasteconnectionscares. #togetherwearebetter #wctogetherwearebetter #wcgivesback #somuchmorethantrash #wasteconnectionsproud

How have we addressed unprecedented challenges? As an essential services provider during uncertain times, we recognized that reducing employee concerns regarding income, healthcare and family obligations would enable us to meet customer commitments, reduce voluntary turnover and further improve safety performance. To provide that support, we committed more than $35 million in incremental costs primarily directed to discretionary supplemental pay for frontline employees, and, among other initiatives, increased its minimum wage target to $15/hour, expanded benefits and provided scheduling flexibility to accommodate employee needs. We also recognized the challenges faced by the communities we serves, increasing the level of charitable contributions to assist food banks, families at risk, and organizations with a focus on addressing racial inequities at a local or national level. This week Waste Connections announced a “Thank You Bonus” for frontline employees. Most employees will receive $800 and more recently hired employees will receive $400. As an essential services provider in such challenging and unprecedented times, we are proud to provide this appreciation bonus ahead of the Holiday Season in addition to other discretionary employee support during the year, including supplemental pay, emergency wages, employee relief fund and increased minimum wage target to $15/hour. The health, safety and welfare of our employees remain our focus. Thank you and your families for your tireless efforts in serving our communities.
