I was re-interviewing for the role after I had worked on the feedback I was given 6 months before. I applied on Greenhouse and, as I guess I was reapplying, I skipped the take-home assignment.
The call with the recruiter, who was the same one I had interacted with the first time, was very pleasant and extremely short as she knew I had the technical ability. After a 10 minute chat I was scheduled for a technical interview.
Here is where things went badly. The interviewer was very casual and, as talked about in the handbook, I mirrored his easiness. The questions were exactly the same as I had answered in the previous interview so I answered all the scenarios confidently and he kept telling me it was impressive how quickly and how well I was doing. He started trying to catch me out with left field questions I guess to icrease the interview time.
This is when I started getting the feeling that all was not well. His demeanour changed and it just started looking like he was going through the motions, not interacting with me and guiding me as is clearly directed by their handbook.
Two days after this I got an email stating that they would not be proceeding with my interviews, that had already been set up and time for which I had put aside in my schedule, as they felt I kept rushing to the answer to the problems presented to me and not acting like I was seeing them afresh. This totally contravened their fifth value, Transparency, as all through the interview till the demeanour change it was brought out as impressive that I knew exactly what to do.
