“Keona demonstrated what it means to be a TEAM member by immediately volunteering to fill in for another coworker in need. She worked her shift, plus about three hours, to help someone who really needed to tend to a family emergency. Keona is the coworker we all want on our team, and the coworker we are all blessed to have on our team. Thank you for being an angel among us, Keona!” Congrats to Keona on winning our Big-hearted Acclaim for the month of January! #1800contacts #lifeat1800contacts #recognition #bighearted
We all know the story. The hardworking associate forgets about Valentine's Day and scrambles to the grocery store for some cheap chocolate and wilted flowers. Well, not the case at 1-800 Contacts! Our 20/20 Grille team crafted romantic fondue kits made for two, so every associate has the opportunity to wow that special someone. It's just one of the many ways Chef Tom and our 20/20 Grille team continue to surprise and delight our associates and enhance their work/life balance. #1800contacts #lifeat1800contacts #2020grille #valentinesday
Today is National Wear Red Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness for cardiovascular disease, particularly in women. Our associates showed their support by sporting red apparel at our physical and virtual campuses. Overall wellness is an incredibly important pillar for our organization. Our wellness incentive program rewards associates for making healthy choices, such as eating more fruits and vegetables or drinking plenty of water. We love and care about our associates (and their hearts), and want to help support them in their wellness goals. Thanks, Big-hearted associates and Seemore, for showing your support for this important day! #1800contacts #wearredday #hearthealth #wellness #lifeat1800contacts
Our Utah associates had a great time attending the NAACP Salt Lake Branch’s 39th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration. We were honored to be a supporter of this incredible event. At 1-800 Contacts, we are committed to driving a culture of Big-heartedness and inclusivity. We remain inspired by Dr. King’s life and legacy, and the important work the NAACP is doing in our community. Brandy Pehrson, Customer Retention Manager who was in attendance, shared: “I had the pleasure of attending Salt Lake City’s MLK Luncheon, and when I tell you it was eye-opening, that is no small statement. I was in awe of the community outreach and activism that I was introduced to. It made me realize that there is so much work to be done and that I could be doing more. I hope to continue finding opportunities to serve my peers and my community.” #1800contacts #lifeat1800contacts #bettertogether #drmartinlutherking

"Being a part of Project Elf has been the best reminder of what Christmas really is all about. It's such a special thing to watch friends and coworkers come together to help make the Christmas season brighter for others. I’ve been amazed to see the generosity that we have seen and continue to see from our associates. One of my favorite quotes by Mother Teresa is 'It’s not how much you give, but how much love you put into giving.' You truly can feel that love from all of our associates, and I feel blessed to be apart of it." #lifeat1800contacts #contactsgivesback #projectelf #bighearted #bettertogether
"Working on the Festival of Trees donation is one of my favorite activities of the year. Not only do I get to help create something beautiful, I also know we’re doing a lot to help families that are in the care of Primary Children’s hospital. I’ve had siblings, nieces and nephews, and many friends who have been treated at Primary’s, and I’m so grateful for the care they received. Having the opportunity to help give back so someone else’s child can be helped, especially this time of year, is something I will always cherish." Carolee Willden, 1-800 Contacts Payroll Processor
Making sure our people are well taken care of is central to who we are. This week, Chef Tom and the 20/20 Grille team spent time being Big-hearted by prepping traditional Thanksgiving dinners, so our associates could choose to work a bit less and relax a bit more for the holiday. Each dinner was prepped, cooled, and ready to reheat, so the only stress this Thanksgiving will be pre-heating the oven. Executive Chef Tom, who oversees this highly anticipated 5-course meal, shared: "Back in 2020, our team was looking for new ways to reach our associates. Life was hard back then. People didn’t like going to stores, and a lot of associates didn’t travel to see family. We thought the perfect way to help would be to make a menu of Thanksgiving staples they could order to make things a little easier. We offered roasted turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, roasted vegetables, and mac and cheese. I’m sure Thanksgiving meals will continue to be offered to our beloved associates for years to come.” However you choose to celebrate, we wish everyone a safe and happy holiday weekend!
Earlier this fall, several of our associates had the opportunity to attend the 15th Annual Women Tech Awards. This inspiring event, hosted by the Women Tech Council at Grand America, celebrated the incredible women in our technology community and the numerous ways they are driving innovation and creating positive impact. Shout-out to the many winners on all their hard work and achievements. Amanda Packer, one of our Product Management Interns for our Hello Eyes team who attended the event, shared: “Attending the Women Tech Awards in September was one of the most inspiring nights I have had in a long time. To see these women with families and busy lives working so hard to improve the lives of others in their unique ways gave me such hope as well as a drive to be better in my own life.” #1800contacts #lifeat1800contacts #womentechcouncil #technology #development #bettertogether #tenacious #throwbackthursday
We had a wonderful time attending the 20th Anniversary Latinos in Action Gala and were honored to be a supporter of this celebration. Jasmine Alfonso, one of our associates in attendance, shared the following. “Latinos in Action was a such a beautiful event! I loved hearing about LIA's mission to help the Latino community in Utah and many other states by providing free tutoring and college counseling as well as mentors for their students to create a relationship with. LIA's mission is very dear to me as someone who was raised by one parent and grew up in poverty, and yet through perseverance and mentorship from teachers, I hold a Bachelor's and soon to be Master's degree in the field of education. “As a teacher, there is nothing more we want for our students than to find resources that will help them find success, especially when they come from difficult situations. LIA is molding the next generation of Latinos into confident students who hold big plans for the future. LIA's mission is to provide guidance and support is to be admired. I hope one day I can be a part of LIA!”
