Last month we held a special town hall at our headquarters in Draper. Dr. Ofer Limon, CEO and Co-Founder of 6over6 Vision, and his team joined us all the way from Israel. Not only were our Draper associates able to attend, but our Charlotte and Salt Lake associates as well as members of the 6over6 crew participated via a live-stream. We loved getting to hear their story on how they got started, see their passion for accessible vision care and technology, and learn more about their incredible team. We can't wait to see what the future holds as we work together to further provide affordable vision care. #lifeat1800contacts #6over6vision #glasseson #visioncare #1800contacts #companytownhall
Each week our executive chef, Tom, and his team launch new entrées at our 20/20 Grille that both look and taste amazing. As many of the dishes often include new ingredients or unfamiliar terms (to those that don't speak "culinary"), Tom thoughtfully introduces each new dish to our associates via short videos that are shared companywide. Our newest menu includes Roasted Pork Chop with boulangere potatoes and red sauerkraut, Seared Ahi Tuna Tostada with shaved cabbage, avocado, green salsa, seaweed salad, black radish, and wasabi crème fresh, Paneer Tikka Masala with basmati rice and naan, and Freekeh Salad with frisée, roasted butternut squash, pears, pepitas, and apple cider vinaigrette. For our associates with less adventurous taste buds, we also have options such as veggie pizzas, bacon cheeseburgers, and quesadillas—all made fresh each day. After introducing the menu, Tom and his team (and any lucky passersby) then get to try each dish. We confess that's our favorite part! #lifeat1800contacts #grillelife #2020grille #cheftom #companyperks #companybenefits
We had a great time yesterday at DevMountain’s career fair. Mat, our talent acquisition manager, and Sarah, our IT business partner, got to chat with around 60-70 graduates, and share what makes 1-800 a great place to work. We loved having the opportunity to join the other vendors, and interact with the awesome talent in our community. #devmountain #careerfair #technology #lifeat1800contacts
Thanks, @Comparably, for the highlight (blush)! We are pretty proud of our amazing team, our A+ rating, and the culture our associates have helped us build. Despite our “ghost town” photo, we’ve got some exciting things going on over here. 😉 Got a minute? Head on over to our Instagram account, lifeat1800contacts. Our people are what make our company truly special, and we’re always looking to add talented people to our family. #lifeat1800contacts #productroles #utah #senseofhumor #awesomecompaniestoworkfor
We have always had a culture of “family” at 1-800 and constantly strive to find ways to connect with those inside and outside of our walls. This past week one of our customers shared heartbreaking news that several members of his family had recently passed. Our company has an incredible program in place that empowers our associates to create special experiences for our customers. Deena, Mindy, and Madison, members of our Associate and Customer Expert team, worked together to find a unique and personal way to honor this customer’s loved ones. Deena shared the following excerpt from their letter to him: “On behalf of 1-800 Contacts, we decided to name a star after your family's last name in remembrance of those you lost this year, so when you look into the sky, you always know they are looking down on you. We hope this can provide some comfort during these times and offer some reprieve as well as relief knowing that they are shining bright, just for you.” #lifeat1800contacts
Shout-out to Chad N., senior designer for Liingo at our Draper campus, for recently completing the sixteen-week user experience design program at DevMountain. When asked why personal development is important to him, he shared: “Technology changes and business needs change constantly. I’ve found it not just helpful, but essential to keep learning and expanding my knowledge and experience beyond my initial training as a graphic designer. Knowledge is empowering, and it will help us to better communicate with individuals working in other areas, as well as bring a fresh perspective to our current roles.” #lifeat1800contacts #learninganddevelopment #devmountain
We’re off to Nepal! Even with being a little sleep deprived and juggling delayed flights, we’re so excited to have the opportunity to give back on a global level. We have partnered with CHOICE Humanitarian and are honored to be part of this experience. A number of our associates are making the 7,500+ mile trip where they will participate in a project that will bring clean drinking water to one of their villages. They will also be delivering prescription glasses and other donations to those in need. We can’t wait to hear about their experiences and the incredible people of Nepal that are welcoming us into their community. #lifeat1800contacts #contactsgivesback #nepal #makingadifference #choicehumanitarian
Last week our IT department gathered together to celebrate their accomplishments and wins in 2019. They had an incredible year, and we are so grateful for all of their hard work. The celebration included not only Waffle Love, but some pretty great dad jokes. #lifeat1800contacts #technology #wewinasateam #itcelebration
As we settle into the second semester of our CTAC-U, learning and development program, we would be remiss if we didn't stop to celebrate the progress and growth of our associates last quarter. Zach Andersen, one of our Help Desk Specialists and current participants, shared his experience: “In the short amount of three months that I have been enrolled in the CTAC-U program at 1-800-Contacts, I have learned more than I ever did while enrolled in a semester-long computer programming class a couple of years ago. Thanks to the hard work and selfless contributions from the mentors and instructors, I feel like I am on the fast track to a successful career in software development. The instructors we have supply us with invaluable learning resources and in-depth classes. The mentors, even though busy working on large company related projects, still make plenty of time for us to ask questions without making us feel like a burden. I don’t think there is a better opportunity out there for me to learn these valuable development skills.” #lifeat1800contacts #softwaredevelopment
You know 2020 is going to be a great year when it’s only January and you’re already breaking revenue records. All three of our campuses celebrated by throwing a pop-up event, complete with a hot chocolate bar. We have such a tremendous team, and it’s incredible to see what we can accomplish together. Here’s to a new year. We can’t wait to see what it continues to bring. #lifeat1800contacts #hotchocolatebar
